Reflective Space Groups
The purpose of the group is to provide a safe space
for staff to reflect upon how their work impacts on
them personally, emotionally and psychologically. Staffcare’s
group facilitator has no line management function; the
accountability, reporting structures, monitoring and
evaluation remain within the groups’ normal working
contexts.
The group acts as a safe space to acknowledge the person
behind the profession. The focus of the work is on the
staff member and is to support staff to develop reflective
practice.
The normal limitations of confidentiality apply. Some
organisations provide the groups for ongoing support;
others request a group as a one-off support.
Examples:
- Social work teams working with children with life
limiting illnesses;
- Staff of residential units following the death
of long-term residents.
