Critical Incident Stress Management Service

Staffcare is recognised as the foremost provider of Critical Incident Stress Management services in Ireland. Membership of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (U.S.A) [ICISF] is recognition of the quality and standard of service and training provided in this area. Staffcare is the only organisation in Ireland and the UK to have been invited to join this prestigious network and to be recognised on their International web site.

The 24-hour Careline is the initial point of contact in the event of any major or smaller critical incident. Immediate advice and support is offered. Staffcare uses a Strategic Planning System that has been developed in collaboration with the Foundation to assess the critical situation once initial notification is received. The system also facilitates the identification of the type of crisis intervention techniques that will be appropriate throughout the crisis period and in the aftermath. Critical Incident Stress Management Group

Organisational briefings and leaflets on the impact of trauma can be a useful form of crisis intervention where a large number of employees are involved. Where appropriate small group meetings are arranged for those most directly affected as soon after the incident as appropriate. We recommend that Group de-fusings take place within 12 hours of the incident. The more in-depth structured group intervention of critical incident stress de-briefing; usually reserved for the more serious incidents, should be undertaken between 24 and 72 hours after the incident. Individual crisis intervention sessions can be made available at any point after the incident. Follow –up support is always offered with any intervention and those people requiring further support are referred on to the counselling programme.

Staffcare currently provides a Critical Incident Response service to, amongst others, fire fighters, paramedics, bank staff, schools, colleges and a variety of government departments, plus hospitals and residential and community based teams working with vulnerable or volatile client groups.
