24 Hour Freephone Careline
Staffcare offer a 24-hour, 365 day per year freephone
service known as the Careline. A trained counsellor
answers this Careline during office hours. The out of
hours service is linked to trained telephone responders
in our Call Management Centre, who connect the calls
instantly to the counsellor on call, when appropriate.
For most clients, this is the initial point of contact
with the counselling support service, and provides immediate
access to a counsellor at any hour of the day or night.
This instant link is very valuable at times
of intense stress when often the paramount need of the
caller is to be listened to and to feel supported. This
initial contact usually leads to arrangements being
made to meet with a counsellor for further support.
Telephone counselling can be offered and pre-arranged
call times can be booked at the time of initial contact,
in the same way as a ‘face to face ‘ counselling
service. All callers are supplied with a discrete Staffcare
code number, which protects their confidentiality and
also authenticates any further telephone contact with
the service. All invoices, correspondence or Counsellors
reports use this code number as a further means of assuring
standards of confidentiality which are the cornerstone
of our service.
The Careline operates on the basis of open access
with no restrictions on the number of occasions an individual
may use the service. Some of our client organisations
make our Services available to the immediate family
members of their employees.
Careline is available to employees at times of personal
crisis when they may not have the support of peers or
management, for example week-ends, night-time or Bank
and public holidays. Users of our service value the
fact that they can have instant access to the Critical
Incident Stress Management Service in the event of a
major incident or of a smaller incident such as a violent
attack on an individual employee, or a traumatic incident
which has an impact on a specific group of employees
e.g. a fatal accident occurred involving a colleague.
